Online Safety

As one of the biggest online playgrounds in the world, Animal Jam empowers kids to learn the skills they need to safely navigate the Internet. We are constantly strengthening our safety measures to be the safest place for kids to explore, learn, and play wild.

Keeping Animal Jam Safe

Safety is Animal Jam's #1 priority. We work hard to ensure that kids feel comfortable and safe as they explore our online world. To make that possible, a team of community managers, game moderators, and online safety experts are constantly improving Animal Jam's safety measures, including:

  • Providing online resources that teach players how to engage in proper and safe online behavior.
  • Updating our in-game chat filters on a regular basis with ever-changing slang and communication trends.
  • Monitoring player reports, chat longs, and live gameplay for cyberbullying, inappropriate chat, and other unacceptable behavior.
  • Suspending or deactivating accounts found in violation of the Animal Jam Rules.

Tips for Players

Animal Jam is a safe kids game, but it's still important for players to know the basics of online safety before entering the online world. Always keep these important tips in mind:

  • Don't be afraid to tell a parent or trusted adult if you see something wrong or something that makes you feel uncomfortable.
  • NEVER share personal information online, including your real name, photo, phone number, birthday, and address.
  • NEVER share your password.
  • Treat other people how you want to be treated.
  • Report and block other Jammers who are mean, rude, or are breaking the Animal Jam Rules.
  • Only use the Trading System to trade items in Animal Jam. Never trade using Jam-A-Grams, and never lend your items to other Jammers.

Tips for Parents

Animal Jam is a safe kids game, but it's still important for players to know the basics of online safety before entering the online world. Always keep these important tips in mind:

  • Reinforce "stranger dangers" to your kids and explain the importance of protecting their anonymity even while playing online.
  • Make a house rule or "pledge" that they will never share personal information such as their full name, address or phone number.
  • Actively discuss proper online etiquette and behavior with your kids.
  • Encourage your kids to report any inappropriate behavior when playing online games and to come speak to you when something makes them feel uncomfortable.
  • Create an environment where kids play on the computer in a public or central locations in your home.
